THEY MIGHT BE DEPORTED AS YOU READ THIS. I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS.
THESE PEOPLE ARE LIKELY TO GET RAPED, ATTACKED AND KILLED IN THE NAME OF ‘HONOUR’ UPON THEIR RETURN TO EGYPT.
THIS MESSAGE NEEDS TO BE CIRCULATED ASAP, THIS IS HAPPENING NOW.
For anyone that’s interested, here’s some information about the family and their situation:
To whom it may concern,
This is an official statement regarding Mrs Saleh and her children.
Mrs Saleh arrived to the UK over 5 years ago with her children aged just 12, 13, and 15 at the time. They spent the most formative years of their lives in the UK and identify with Wales in their character and identity.
Mrs Saleh has been seeking sanctuary from an abusive and cruel husband whose acts endangered her and her children’s lives for over 15 years to the extent of death and rape. The Egyptian authorities ignored this domestic abuse as her husband has close links with police, judges and other officials. Consequently, the family have been seeking asylum in the UK for the past few years.
The UKBA have ignored numerous pieces of evidence regarding the case. In the past, the family have not had good representation from solicitors. In particular, documents have not been formally translated. However, the family now have excellent solicitors. When they found out about the above they have been trying to get the SAR (Family’s asylum case file) from the UKBA. The SAR was received but it was incomplete, missing crucial documents which are needed to legally challenge the case. The solicitor has been trying to recover those documents but the UKBA are still not sending them. Further more, the UKBA still haven’t sent the full SAR.
Earlier today, at about 6 AM the family’s house was raided UKBA officers and they dragged Mrs Saleh and her two children out of bed. They were arrested to be deported at 3pm today and snatched away from Mrs Saleh’s eldest daughter in front of her eyes leaving her in the risk of never seeing them again. They were handcuffed and taken to Heathrow Airport.
It is obvious to us that the family’s deportation process was unlawfully handled as the family’s case is still on going and they even have a court appearance in November. Added to that, the UKBA didn’t follow their own rules and regulation regarding family deportation process by taking them directly to the airport rather than taking them to a family pre-departure accommodation before hand.
The solicitors have lodged an emergency injunction which was not responded to until after 5 PM (the flight was scheduled for 3 PM). Luckily, due to security issues (the driver didn’t have his identity card) the vehicle in which the family were held was not permitted to go any further resulting in missing the flight. However, the injunction was refused in spite of all the evidence available to deem this deportation unlawful.
The family are now held in Cedars detention center (RH11 9AD, Tel: 01293844900) and have been told that the UKBA will try to deport them again to Egypt on another flight either tonight or tomorrow.
We are asking if you could contact the Home Secretary (phone: 020 7219 5206 / e-mail: mayt@parliament.uk ) and the Immigration Minister (Phone: 01594 823482 e-mail: mark.harper.mp@parliament.uk ) and call on them to delay the deportation until all aspects of the case are lawfully considered.
